A re-release of the classic movie on St. Francis produced by 20th Century Fox starring Bradford Dillman and Dolores Hart, and directed by Michael Curtiz (Casablanca). Born into a life of privilege and extravagance, Francis of Assisi renounced his heritage to serve and live among the poor and the outcasts, becoming one of the most revered saints in history. He hears the voice of God calling him to rebuild his Church, and leaves his wealthy life to found a major religious order, the Franciscans. This epic film was shot on location in Italy, with beautiful cinematography and a lovely music score. Also stars Stuart Whitman and Pedro Armendariz.
"The reverence, spirituality and general adherence to fact attendant on a biography of a saint are as forcefully obvious in Francis of Assisi, as the authentic Giotto frescoes and Umbrian landscapes the film so vividly captures."
