Product Description

"The LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream and said, ‘Ask for whatever you want me to give you.' [Solomon answered], 'Give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. [The LORD answered], 'I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.'" I Kings 3: 5, 7, 9, 12 (NIV)

It was his first major test as king. The eyes of the nation were watching nervously to see if King Solomon, this new, young leader, could measure up to the high standards set by his beloved father, King David. The dilemma was this: two mothers claimed one baby. An innocent life depended on King Solomon’s sensible decision. The answer he received from the Lord and thus carried out showed that the Lord blessed him with more wisdom than any other king.

The biblical story of King Solomon (an emotional Old Testament account), escorts viewers into his very throne room, where we see, in action, one of the wisest men who ever lived.

Use this 30-minute, animated Bible video to teach kids about wisdom and trust in God.

A few interesting facts: Solomo۪n’s name is derived from the Hebrew word shalom and means "peace," "complete," or "prosperous."

The name given by God to Solomon is Jedidiah, meaning "friend of God" or "beloved of Yahweh." (Solomon’s case is one of the few in the Bible where the name given by God is not recorded as staying with the character).

Solomon was King David۪’s thirteenth son. His mother was Bathsheba.

Main Characters: Solomon, his brother Adonijah, King David and Bathsheba, the Priests, the two women and the child

Scriptural References: 2 Samuel 12:24, I Kings 1:5-53, I Kings 3:5-28, I Kings 4:29-33, I Kings 5:3-5, I Kings 6:1-38, I Kings 7:15-53 & I Kings 11:42-43

Overall Theme: Solomon’s wisdom comes from God. He puts his faith in God, and God gives the great King the power to understand human nature, to make judgments with great wisdom, and the courage to stand up for his belief in God’s will.

Wisdom always demands courage. Fortunately, God tells us that He will bless us with the strength we need, if we come to him as Solomon did and put our complete trust in Him.
