We invite you to spend the next six weeks with us as we celebrate Lent and prepare our hearts for the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Is it possible that we have not yet prepared our hearts to embrace the suffering of our Lord in order to participate in his triumphant resurrection? For Christians, the 40 days in the desert with Jesus are represented by the six weeks leading up to Easter. Lent is a season when Catholics worldwide devote themselves especially to God through prayer, fasting, and acts of charity. This year, the Gospels of Matthew and John will be read on Sundays during Mass. Reading these gospels together weaves a lovely pattern of joyful expectation into our hearts as the Easter season approaches. The ancient practise of Lectio Divina is included into this study, which otherwise follows the structure of Catholic Scripture Studies but focuses on the texts assigned for Sunday worship (praying the scriptures). Through the practise of Lectio Divina, we may more clearly 'hear' God's voice as He speaks to us directly through the pages of Scripture.
