Acclaimed authors Fr. Donald H. Calloway, MIC and Patrick O'Hearn bring the story of Knock to life for young readers, with beautiful illustrations by Ann Kissane Englehart.
Although many years have passed since Mary appeared in Ireland, the stories and memories of this Apparition continue to touch many lives. Her appearance shows us we are not alone. At Knock, Heaven is reminding us to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory since 100 Masses were offered for them prior to the Apparition. Mary wants us to keep our eyes fixed on the Holy Eucharist, the Lamb of God. When we receive Holy Communion, we are receiving Jesus. He is the true food for everyone who hungers for eternal life.
In March 2021, Pope Francis officially recognized the Shrine of Our Lady of Knock as an International Marian and Eucharistic Shrine. Our Lady of Knock's official feast day is August 17. This date was chosen because August 21, which marks the anniversary of the Apparition in 1879, is already dedicated to the Feast of Saint Pius X. While the universal feast day is August 17, the local feast day in Knock, Ireland, is observed on August 21, commemorating the original Apparition.
