Each day includes a brief school-based definition of each gift of the Holy Spirit, then deep meditation, followed by intense prayer as appropriate for that gift. Finally, the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be recited, consecration to the Holy Spirit and prayer for the seven gifts. This must be ESPECIALLY in the hands of each confirmer, godparent, parent, teacher, priest and religious. We give gifts at Confirmation in imitation of the Holy Ghost, who gives much greater gifts. What better gift is there than helping the confirmed know and love what he has received from Him?
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear “Holy Spirit”? If it is a bird, there is a little problem. We suspect that 99% of committed Catholics have this dilemma. That is why we offer a small book as a solution. This is a novena like no other. Once again we have to go back to the motto of the French seminary in Rome, Archbishop Lefebvre and his mentor P. LeFloch: "pietas cum doctrina, doctrina cum pietate" "piety with teaching, teaching with piety." Novena books are usually full of piety and very little doctrine, but, as Saint Thomas tells us, "you cannot love what you do not know." How can you love the Holy Spirit and communicate with him in prayer if you don't know him beforehand? If knowing the Holy Spirit is a thorn in your side, you don't know Him ... unfortunately most of us are.
This little twenty-four page treasure, like all Novenas, covers a period of daily prayer for nine days:
