Selections from “The Little Flowers of St. Francis" (Hardcover)

This beautifully illustrated collection of selections from *The Little Flowers of Saint Francis* draws upon a rare 1921 publication originally titled *Franz von Assisi*, with the title *Legenden vom Heiligen Franz* appearing on its title page.

Originally published by Amalthea Verlag as part of the *Kleine Amalthea-Bücherei* series, the pocket-sized, 106-page volume features a German translation by Karl Toth and striking illustrations by Maximilian Liebenwein.

The illustrations are vigorous, clear, and dramatic, reflecting the distinctive graphic design of the early twentieth century. Particularly noteworthy are eight full-colour plates, originally printed in gold, blue, and red and subsequently enhanced with coloured pencils.

Combining beloved stories of St. Francis of Assisi with remarkable historical religious artwork, this collection offers a distinctive glimpse into Franciscan literature and early twentieth-century book illustration.
