Etudes Gregoriennes is an academic journal that was founded in 1954 by Dom Joseph Gajard, then Solesmes choirmaster. This annual journal contains studies and articles on Gregorian chant and other subjects related to sung liturgical prayer, liturgy, paleography, rhythm, mopdality, history and hagiography. The journal also looks at instrumental music and polyphony as they relate to Gregorian chant.
Etudes Gregoriennes will help anyone with an interest in Gregorian chant expand their knowledge and keep abreast of current research with well-written articles and illustrated with chant and other facsimiles.
Reviews of relevant books are also included in each volume. Articles are written mostly in French, but are also in English, German, Italian and Spanish. Each volume is published in the Fall and runs to about 200 pages. This is a must-have volume for students as well as libraries.
