The Word of God is… Wait, Are You Sleeping?

It is a warm, summer Sunday morning. The priest asks the congregation to be seated and Phyllis approaches the ambo to proclaim the Word of God. Your eyes get heavy. You think about how late you stayed up playing video games last night. “It would be easier to pay attention if this part of Mass weren’t so boring…” you say as your eyes start to close. Suddenly, an angel appears to you and says simply:

“The Word of God isn’t boring…you are.”
