Product Description
•••••
The second volume of The Complete Works of Saint John of the Cross explores the profound mystery of Divine love through the beautiful poetry and mystical writings of the great Carmelite saint and Doctor of the Church. Centered upon The Spiritual Canticle, Saint John describes the soul’s deep longing for Christ, its search for the Beloved, and its journey toward perfect union with God. Drawing upon the imagery of the Song of Songs, he beautifully illustrates the stages of spiritual growth, prayer, purification, and Divine intimacy. This volume includes both major versions of The Spiritual Canticle, offering a deeper understanding of the soul’s journey toward spiritual marriage and eternal glory. It also features a rich collection of Saint John’s poems, reflecting on contemplation, faith, the Incarnation, the Birth of Christ, and the soul’s desire for God.
