During the 19th century, Sister Maria Luisa of the Dominican Order had a vision of Saint Philomena, a Greek princess persecuted for her Christian faith. According to the sister's vision, Saint Philomena, a 13-year-old daughter of a royal family, encountered opposition when her family converted to Christianity. To avoid conflict, the family sought refuge in Rome, but Emperor Dioclesan became obsessed with Philomena. She rejected his proposal for marriage out of devotion to Christ, which infuriated the Emperor. Philomena endured excruciating torments in retaliation for her unwavering faith, including being wounded by arrows, attached to an anchor and tossed into water, and ultimately decapitated. Later, her remains were discovered in the Catacombs of Priscilla in Rome, which sparked a devotional surge. Saint Philomena is known as the "Wonderworker" because her intercession is credited with numerous miracles.
